Set up the Gallery with Me

Gallery Process Photos

The process of getting the gallery up and running for a show is extensive and takes weeks.  Creating a show begins in a blank space and requires multiple steps.  Scroll over to see videos and descriptions of the many parts of this process. Click to view full size images and information.

Gallery Layouts/Open Gallery

After the gallery is completed we have the gallery show.  The Gallery Show nights bring students, teachers, and community members together and often give students their first chance to showcase their work.

Photography Portfolio

Aside from gallery curation, I also pursue art as a photographer. Being a photographer has allowed me to see life from a different perspective and to find the wonder in details that could otherwise be overlooked. Through the lens of a camera often I see beauty in what could easily be considered mundane. I hope that my photography gives others a space to appreciate and reflect on the beauty in their own lives. Photography captures a moment in time from a unique perspective and helps me be mindful of the moment I am in. Sometimes life feels like it is moving at a really fast pace. By taking the time to slow down and see the details around you are given more appreciation for the world we live in and the things that we have. There are always going to be struggles in our lives, but art has been a tool to help me process the emotions that can weigh us down in these situations. (click for full size images)

About Me

My Name is Jordyn Reskey

I am an Art Major at CSUF and former gallery curator of Fullerton Union High School's Gallery 201. I find joy in designing spaces for other artists to be able to showcase their work. When work is put in a gallery it allows artists to experience a sacred space where their work can be shown, seen, and understood by a wide audience. Galleries offer unique experiences where each artist's vision is brought to life in a carefully curated exhibit. I believe that art has the power to transform, foster community, and inspire and because of that, I strive to create an environment where these things can happen.

I consider myself a creative person and love being immersed in the arts. Specifically, I enjoy photography, and music. I play bass guitar and collect records and am a fan of a wide variety of genres of music. When I am not doing photography, working in the gallery, or playing music, you can find me looking for vintage fashion.

I was honored to be nominated for OC Register's 2024 Artist of the Year  for my work in Gallery curation.  Scott Hudson, Fullerton Union High School Art Department Chair, said in his nomination, "While a strong technical artist herself, both as a photographer and traditional visual artist, Jordyn has really begun to shine in the area of curator/gallery designer. … Jordyn’s vision has led her to explore the space in terms of color, scale, size and contrast. Designing each show carefully and adapting as needed based on the size, number, medium, and detail of each piece. She works to find a means for each piece to be shown fairly, validating the work of each artist. WIth many personalities in the arts, this is a very challenging and difficult task, for anyone, let alone a beginning student curator. But Jordyn meets this challenge, with a smile and a friendly and excited attitude.”

received the Cal State Fullerton Myrt Purkiss Scholarship for incoming freshmen for the 2024-2025 School Year.  I look forward to exploring ways to connect my school and community through art.

In the future, I’d love to continue to use art as a means to create connection and community.  Either as an arts educator or opening my own art gallery. My vision for this venue would be a multi-use space where local artists could display their work, bands could play, and community art workshops/events could be held. In a world where technology is so prominent, meetups are often done online, and so much “artwork” is being generated through AI, it is extremely important to keep alive spaces that foster and celebrate artists and their crafts. My work as a gallery curator has made me realize how much I love helping other artists display their work and the community that is created in these environments. I envision a place where artists, musicians, and people from the community could connect and support each other. I want to have an impact in the world by making sure true art stays alive.
